GOVERNOR Nyesom Wike has said he will use the award bestowed on him by PresidentMuhammadu Buhari to campaign in the 2023 elections. Wike said this during a dinner/reception in his honour to celebrate the ‘Distinguished Award in Infrastructure Delivery’ held in Port Harcourt last night. While dedicating the award to God, he said the successes his administration recorded in infrastructural development were made possible by the support and encouragement he received from the state. He said, “We must all work together. Traditional rulers, help Rivers State to move forward. The Progressives Teachers Movement  (PTM), a sub group of Nigeria Union of Teachers in the local government changed the status quo of the celebration with innovations, commemorating the Teachers Day Celebration this year which was highly applauded and greatly honoured.  Mr Akinmade Kayode, President of the Progressives Teachers Movement (PTM) took this year's celebration seriously, with the Education Authorities  focusing more on improving the welfare and the working conditions of the teachers in and across the state and the country at large. APPEAL COURT ACQUITS MAZI NNAMDI KANU Village Square Report * Strikes out FG charge The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Thursday,13th October 2023 quashed the terrorism charge the Federal Government preferred against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu. It discharged and acquitted him of the seven-count charge pending against him before the Federal High Court in Abuja. The appellate court, in a decision by a three-man panel led by Justice Jummai Hanatu, said it was satisfied that FG flagrantly violated the law, when it forcefully rendered Kanu from Kenya to the country for the continuation of his trial. It held that such extra-ordinary rendition, without adherence to due process of the law, was a gross violation of all international conventions, protocols and guidelines that Nigeria is signatory to, as well as a breach of the Appellant’s fundamental human rights.
