HISTORIC TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION IN OSHODI-ISOLO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA

Village Square reports

Group seek improved welfare for members

The celebration of Teachers' Day may have come and gone but the coloration of the events as experienced by teachers in Oshodi-Isolo Local Government continues to linger.

The Progressives Teachers Movement  (PTM), a sub group of Nigeria Union of Teachers in the local government changed the status quo of the celebration with innovations, commemorating the Teachers Day Celebration this year which was highly applauded and greatly honoured.

Mr Akinmade Kayode, President of the Progressives Teachers Movement (PTM) took this year's celebration seriously, with the Education Authorities  focusing more on improving the welfare and the working conditions of the teachers in and across the state and the country at large. Of course, Lagos State Government is really trying in ensuring all these are put in place.

"This is not a competition between the NUT executives (Oshodi-Isolo Local Government branch) and PTM but rather to seek improvement in the affairs of the teachers and celebrating the day with utmost dedication and collaboration.

The event was colorful with the provision of a photo stand gallery where all the teachers had their photoshoot to keep the memory of the occasion, distribution of souvenirs, unlimited food, with members dancing to  live performance of one of the best  musician.

Aside from the funfare, the Progressive Teacher's Movement ensure all the teachers were dressed in common regalia which is the first of its kind in the history of teachers' celebration in the local government.

The movement advised teachers to rise to the new horizon of teachers' welfare, their needs, and other challenges faced by  teachers for efficiency and effectiveness by appropriate authorities.
