Governor ADELEKE suspends OSEIC CHAIRMAN

OSUN STATE GOVERNMENT SUSPENDS  STATE INDEPENDENT ELECTORAL COMMISSION CHAIRMAN AND SIX COMMISSIONERS 
  
The political drama in Osun state continues two days after the swearing in of new governor senator Ademola Adeleke Jackson Nurudeen as he directed the immediate suspension of the Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC), Mr. Segun Oladitan and the six members of the Commission; they were :

I. Mr. Yusuf Oyeniran
II. Alhaja Suibat Adubi
III. Prince Yinka Ajiboye
IV. Mrs. Abosede Omibeku
V. Mr. Dosu Gidigbi
VI. Mr. Wahab Adewoyin.

According to statements by the new secretary to the government Hon. Teslim Igbalaiye 
“This suspension is sequel to several petitions bothering on financial impropriety, dereliction of duty, absenteeism and abuse of office against the said Chairman and members of the Commission.
“Pending the outcome of investigation into the allegations against the suspended Chairman and members of the Commission, the Secretary to the Commission shall hold forth in running the affairs of the Commission”, the statement affirmed.”

Meanwhile OSEIC has withdrawn certificates of return to all elected personality in the recently concluded local government election following a court verdict by an high court sitting in Oshogbo which nullified the election for failure to follow due process of the election .

In a reaction to the judgement the executive secretary of OSEIC Adedapo Ayodeji Adejumo in a statement said " the commission hereby announces it's decision not to appeal the judgement of the federal high court Oshogbo
 
" The decision if the commission is coming against backdrop of OSEIC failure to follow strictly provision of section 24 of OSEIC Law,2022 and section 28 of the electoral act 2022 which mandated the commission to give a notice of 360 days before the conduct of election "
" In view of this ,the Osun state Independent Electoral commission aligned perfectly with the decision of the federal high court , Oshogbo as the election stand nullified and certificate of returns already issued to the purported Chairmen and councillors are hereby withdrawn with immediate effect" 

Osun state newly has a new governor ADEMOLA ADELEKE who was sworn in in 28th November and he has been taken decisions especially reversal of decision of the past administration .
