OUTRAGEOUS : ANITHER LAWMAKER BEHEADED IN NIGERIA  Village square reports  Another ex-lawmaker has been reported beheaded by unknown gunmen in southeast Nigeria. According to news on social media nelson, Nwachukwu has been found by relatives with head his severed. His decapitated body was quickly buried by the family on Tuesday as the corpse had started decomposing. The former house of Assembly and a businessman were earlier reported to have been kidnapped sometime this year but were released after a Ransome of 15 million naira was paid before the new kidnap which resulted in his beheading on June 9th, 2022.  According to the news, his reason for earlier kidnap was the allegation that he provided the military with information to quash the gunmen's atrocities which were founded to be false. GOLDEN EAGLET ZOOM TO FINAL  The golden eaglet today June 21, 2022, at cape coast stadium in Ghana, qualified for the final stage of the WAFU B U-17 competition beating the junior elephant of Cote D'Ivoire  3-1 in the semi-final stage of the competition. The Golden eaglet came from a goal down to subdue their opponent, scored two goals to lead in the first half, and scored another in the second half to end the game at 3-1. With the result, the U-17 team of Nigeria automatically qualifies for the AFCON U-17 nations cup slated for next year in Algeria. The golden eaglet would play the winner of the match between Ghana and Burkina Faso in the final stage of the competition . Village square reports  ATTACK ON JOURNALIST: LAGOS STATE  GOVT GOES AFTER PERPETRATORS Lagos state government has directed the state commissioner of police  Abiodun Alabi to immediately investigate and persecute all the perpetrators of the attack on the journalist which occurred between Ebute -Ero and Adeniji, Iga Iduganran, Lagos Island on 19th June while returning in governors entourage from the welcome program for Apc presidential candidate Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu at Oba of Lagos Palace. In a statement released by the commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotosho the governor condemn the incident and reassure the media of the cordial relationship prevailing by both parties, warning that nobody or group would be allowed to cause disaffection.  He however promised that the state would pay the hospital bills of the affected journalist in the ugly incident.

EKITI GUBERNATORIAL POLL: INEC DECLARES APC WINNER  The Independent National Electoral Commission( INEC) has declared All progressives Congress candidate Mr. Biodun Oyebanji as the winner of the governorship poll held on 18th June 2022 having polled 187,050 to defeat other candidates in the election. Social Democratic Party candidate and former governor of the state Segun Oni came a distant second with 82,211 votes, followed by  People Democratic Party with 67,457 votes. All progressive Congress won a majority of the votes in fifteen local governments of the state while Pdp won one. *SUPREME COURT AFFIRMS USE OF HIJAB IN NIGERIA SCHOOLS*  Village square reports  The supreme court on February 17th affirmed the usage of the Muslim scarf ( hijab) by students in both public primary and secondary schools in Lagos.  In his ruling, the apex court dismissed an appeal filed by the lagos state government and affirmed the judgement of the court of appeal which held that the ban on hijab was discriminatory against Muslim students. It also held that the ban violated the Muslim students right to freedom of thought, conscience, religion, the dignity of human persons and freedom from discrimination guaranteed by the 1999 constitution . A Federal High Court sitting in Kano has ruled that statutory delegates are constitutionally qualified to participate in all meetings, congresses and conventions of any registered political party in Nigeria. Sen. Mas’ud El-Jibrin Doguwa, Hon. Habibu Sani and Hon. Bilyaminu Yusuf Shin’Kafi, (all aspirants of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) at the just concluded National Assembly primaries, had filed a suit challenging the disenfranchisement of statutory delegates from participating at the primaries. The suit marked FHC/KN/CS/13712022, has the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan; National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon.
